From sourcing to manufacturing, we choose short supply chains.
Our bags and accessories are made in Casablanca, as close as possible to where our recycled and upcycled materials are purchased and processed..
We purposefully design simple models, made from one or two materials at most, to make the end of the product life cycle easier.
Our Vision of Upcycling
We strive to upcycle existing materials and recycle natural, plastic-free materials like cotton to reduce our environmental impact.
Recycling or upcycling allows us to lengthen the life of textiles that have already been produced, drastically reducing water consumption and CO2 emissions while taking advantage of quality materials.
The main materials we use:
Recycled cotton:
We've developed our ownrecycled cotton from cotton fabric waste. We combine it with conventional cotton and a small amount of polyester to ensure strength and durability. This natural material offers a limitless array of creative possibilities. Its neutral, imperfect look allows us to offer an infinite palate of colors, from the most traditional to the trendiest, season after season. To create them, we work with dyes that are certified Oeko-Tex, an international label that guarantees that dyes are free from harmful substances.
Upcycled denim
We buypost-industrial denim scraps, either from overstock or from defective fabric, all of which have been thrown out even though the defect may only be hardly spotted . We take care of sorting the scraps, removing only the defective parts. Then the denim is stone- washed by our partners in Casablanca, with no toxic agents, in a closed loopto reduce water consumption.
Upcycled nylon:
Nylonis a very light, rugged, waterproof material derived from plastic. Upcycling these kinds of materials is currently the best way tolimit their environmental impact.
Industry overstocks:
Poly cotton overstock, which we use to line our bags & accessories: It's a delightful wayto give a 2nd life to forgotten print fabrics from the fashion industry.
The new materials used in our collections are always carefully selected according to these environmental imperatives.
An Innovative socially-responsible production model
At the center of our model you'll find our “Dudes” (a pun on Durable and Desirable), experienced designers once facing job insecurity. We lent a hand to get them back on track because we believe in empowerment through work.
These designers had given up on working regularly because finding transportation to downtown areas, where the factories are located, is so difficult. We came up with a different model. Now we go to them, bringing the work to their neighborhoods so they don't have to commute.
Plastic-free packaging
It's been one of Rivedroite's major commitments from the beginning.
We don't use plastic bags or tissue paper. Our products come wrapped with care in reusable cotton pouches.
For online orders, we use recycled and 100% recyclable cardboard packaging in just the right sizes for our products. Our packing tape is made from cornstarch-based glue, to avoid using chemical products.
